Jon Marten (1934 – )




Johannes Petrus Henricus Marie (Jon) Marten (Ginneken 1934 – )  is a Dutch glazier, painter, draftsman, sculptor and graphic artist. Jon Marten was educated at the Academy for Visual Arts Sint-Joost in Breda (1952-1956), the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht (1957-1959) and the Antwerp Academy for Fine Arts (1959-1960). He settled in Amsterdam in 1962.  Marten joined the Professional Association of Visual Artists, the Association of Artists of the Monumental Arts and was a member of the Cultural Council of North Holland. He moved to IJmuiden, where he set up the ‘IJmuider Kring’ with Van de Eerenbeemt in the 1980s. The group was housed in an old factory in the port of IJmuiden and consisted of the two Pieter Defesche, Theo Kuijpers, Lei Molin and Jaap Mooy.
