Description
Mobach Kunstaardewerkfabriek (Utrecht 1895 – present). Starting with ‘Fries kerfsnijwerk’, Klaas Mobach founded his own pottery in Utrecht in 1895. After 1900, the factory follows the tight lines of the ‘Nieuwe Kunst’. From 1926, work was done with pots with a rough surface, with self-developed luster glazes. After the war, the factory was rebooted and in the fifties, vases and plates were manufactured in red clay, mainly exported abroad. In 1995, the company celebrated its 100th anniversary.
Jaan Mobach (Utrecht 1933 – 2003), son of Klaas Mobach (1902). Jaan was an important ceramist in the mobach pottery family.
