Description
Dirk Cornelis ‘Dick’ Elffers (Rotterdam 1910 – Amsterdam 1990). Sculptor, photographer, glass painter, graphic artist, graphic designer, illustrator, interior designer, ceramicist, monumental artist, painter, textile artist, wall painter and mosaicist. Education at the Academy of Visual Arts (Rotterdam). In addition to being a performing artist, he was a teacher of monumental art at the art academy of ‘s-Hertogenbosch from 1970 to 1976. He is one of the innovative painters who exhibited in 1946 at the ’12 Painters’ exhibition in the Amsterdam Stedelijk Museum. Characteristic of this is his choice for strong, bright colors and hand-painted typography. He won the State Prize for Typogaphia. Elffers and was a member of the Association of Practitioners of the Monumental Arts, the GVN (Graphic Designers Netherlands) and Opbouw (Rotterdam).
